Mauritius Diary 2

We had a fantastic time shooting in Mauritius. It's an amazing island with vibrant markets and beautiful beaches. Check out our second Mauritius Diary for must-visit places...

After a morning of exploration, we headed to Escale Créole, a recommended local restaurant. The restaurant is a popular spot for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Mauritian Creole cuisine. Set in a traditional Mauritian home and surrounded by tropical gardens, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The menu features a delightful assortment of home-cooked Creole dishes, all prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. We started with an octopus curry, followed by a chicken daube and a very flavourful fish vindaye. What really sets Escale Créole apart is the cultural experience it offers. The friendly staff not only serve up delicious food but also share stories about Mauritian cuisine and traditions, adding a depth to the dining experience.

After a wonderful day at the beach, we were looking forward to dining at Le Chamarel, a memorable highlight of our trip. Perched on a hillside in the Chamarel region, this picturesque spot offers breathtaking views of the southwestern coast. The drive to Le Chamarel itself is a treat, winding through lush landscapes that lead up to the restaurant’s stunning outdoor terrace. The menu at Le Chamarel is a mix of Mauritian and European dishes, all crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. One of the unique perks of dining at Le Chamarel is its proximity to the famous Chamarel 7 Coloured Earth. This natural wonder, with its vibrant, multicoloured sand dunes, is just a short trip away.
