Mauritius Diaries

We had a fantastic time shooting in Mauritius. It's an amazing island with vibrant markets and beautiful beaches.
Check out our first Mauritius Diary for must-visit places.

During our stay, we decided to venture out and explore the local scene. We found the Central Flacq Market, the largest and most vibrant market in Mauritius. This bustling outdoor market is a feast for the senses and a true hub of local life. The market was brimming with stalls overflowing with fresh produce, mangoes, pineapples, and lychees, alongside fragrant flowers, and aromatic herbs. Walking through the market, we couldn't resist sampling some of the local delicacies and chatting with the friendly vendors. The market is a must-visit for an authentic glimpse into Mauritian daily life.

Next on our itinerary was a stroll through the SSR Botanical Garden; this lush oasis is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the Southern Hemisphere. Spanning over 37 hectares, the garden is a haven for plant lovers. When we arrived, we were blown away by the sight of the giant Victoria amazonica water lilies. One of our favourite spots was the spice plant section. Wandering through, we found nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove trees – a sensory delight. The avenue of Talipot palms and the pond of giant water lilies made for some picturesque photo ops.
