Responsibility & Sustainability
Heidi Klein Cares
Heidi Klein is always striving for ways to make our business more responsible. We are committed to innovation and investing in processes that support the planet and its people and by reducing the environmental impact of our products throughout their lifecycle, we are one step closer to making a much-needed difference.
Our Co-Founders, Heidi and Penny, are acutely aware of the impact the fashion industry is having on the environment and are passionately committed to driving change.
As we progress with our responsible mission, we are aware that there are always new things to learn and new ways to adapt and we hope you will join us on this journey to make the fashion industry a force for good.
Sustainability is the new luxury.
Design, Materials, and Fibers
The easiest way to reduce a products’ environmental impact is to make it last, which is why Heidi Klein focuses on producing the highest quality, best-in-class garments that are built for life and not for a season. Exploring new fabrics and fibers is embedded into our design process.
Using fibers and materials that minimise negative environmental impacts is a priority for our business as we aim to significantly increase our organic, recycled, and re-used content.
These include:
Gots certified 100% organic cotton
GRS certified recycled polyester
100% recycled Viscose
FCS certified100% Tencel
We are also in the process of reviewing all our packaging. It is our objective to ensure that all packaging materials are certified and responsibly sourced. This will included e commerce packaging and product packaging and branding.
Suppliers
We only partner with the best and most ethical factories in Portugal and the far east. We audit our supplier base to reduce environmental impact and ensure that labour standards are consistently met. Our suppliers follow strict guidelines and processes and we will never use any harmful chemicals in our supply chain.
People
Our people and their welfare are at the heart of Heidi Klein. We place the highest priority on providing our staff with the best possible working conditions and encourage our partners and suppliers to do the same. We are committed to upholding human rights, supporting workers and eradicating forced labour. We are also committed to non-discrimination, supporting freedom of association and anti-corruption.
